SARS-CoV-2 oligos in other human coronaviruses

False positives could be a problem when using PCR primers and probes due to binding in DNA non target species. SARS-CoV-2 oligos with a high divergence to other strains should be preferred.

Procedure used in Cov2ID to assess inter-strain diversity

Ranking of SARS-CoV-2 primer pairs according to their difference to other human coronaviruses. The lower the CoV2ID score, the lower the similarity of the oligo with other coronavirus genomes (i.e., less likely to bind).
